The Monday evening match between Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions will wrap up Week 2 of the NFL 2021 season. The home side searches for an improvement after a heavy loss against the Saints in the opening round. The visitors also failed to win in their first game of the regular season, and they will try to surprise their rivals.
Green Bay’s poor preseason form continued, and they lost all their three prep matches. The Texans, the Jets, and the Bills didn’t let them smell a victory, while the Packers continued in the same fashion against the Saints. On the other hand, the Lions haven’t been in much better form. They also suffered three defeats in the preseason, losing to the Bills, Steelers, and the Colts. Detroit opened the regular season campaign at home but lost another match.
Green Bay Packers – Can they improve in Week 2?
Although many people see the Packers as one of the hottest candidates for the Super Bowl, they haven’t shown it on the field yet. The hosts go to this clash after a 38-3 defeat against New Orleans Saints, and they need to improve their performance a lot. Aaron Rodgers extended his contract and will stay with the Packers for the NFL 2021 campaign, but it seemed he didn’t enjoy the field at all. He passed for only 133 yards with a 53.6 success percentage, no TDs, and two interceptions. Randal Cobb and Aaron Rodgers produced 88 receiving yards on six catches, while A.J. Dillion carried for 19 yards on four carries.
Defensively, the guy with the team-high nine tackles was Adrian Amos, Krys Barnes logged one tackle less, while De’Vondre Campbell successfully tackled six times. Eventually, the Packers allowed a total of 322 yards and 38 points. A big role in their tough defeat had three turnovers.
Expected Line-Up (Offense): Aaron Jones, Davante Adams, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Allen Lazard, Robert Tonyan, Elgton Jenkins, Jon Runyan, Josh Myers, Royce Newman, Billy Turner
Expected Line-Up (Defense): Dean Lowry, Kenny Clark, Kingsley Keke, Preston Smith, De’Vondre Campbell, Krys Barnes, Jonathan Garvin, Jaire Alexander, Adrian Amos, Henry Black, Kevin King
Quarter Back: Aaron Rodgers
Kicker: Mason Crosby

Detroit Lions – Things don’t look so great
Detroit had a disappointing NFL 2020 season, as they suffered 11 defeats, and things don’t look bright in this one as well. The Lions could likely start the new campaign with a 0-2 record, and they are in a knockdown. Matthew Stafford was traded to the Rams and replaced by Jared Goff. The two excellent receivers, Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones, left Detroit, and nobody expects them to win more than a couple of matches.
Goff passed for 338 yards with a 66.7% completion, three TDs, and an interception. D’Andre Swift and T.J. Hockenson produced 162 receiving yards and two scores, while Jamaal Williams logged eight receptions. On the other hand, the Lions allowed 442 yards and 41 points. Will Harris was the most notable name from Detroit’s defense with seven tackles, Jeff Okudah had one interception, while Tracy Walker III logged one sack.
Expected Line-Up (Offense): Godwin Igwebuike, Quintez Cephus, Kalif Raymond, Amon-Ra St. Brown, T.J. Hockenson, Jason Cabinda, Penei Sewell, Jonah Jackson, Frank Ragnow, Halapoulivaati Vaitai, Matt Nelson
Expected Line-Up (Defense): Michael Brockers, Alim McNeill, Nick Williams, Charles Harris, Alex Anzalone, Jamie Collins Sr., Austin Bryant, Amani Oruwariye, Will Harris, Tracy Walker III, Ifeatu Melifonwu
Quarter Back: Jared Goff
Kicker: Austin Seibert
Expert Pick #1 – Green Bay Packers -11.5 @-110
After being uninspiring in the opening round, the Packers should get back on the winning track. They have a good chance to boost their confidence with a comfortable win, and I believe they will deliver it. Therefore, I’ll back Green Bay ATS as the first pick.
Expert Pick #2 – Over 46.5 @-133
Both teams had defensive issues in their opening matches of the campaign, but I expect the Packers to be much better in the offense. The Lions went Over five times in the last seven games, and I believe that trend will continue. I’ll take a bit lower odds at a 46.5 margin as the second bet.
Expert Pick #3 – The Packers Over 28.5 @-143
Green Bay shouldn’t miss the opportunity to win this game against one of the worst teams in the league. A potential victory could boost their confidence, and I see them scoring more than 28.5 points here. I’m taking that bet as the third pick for this clash.
