Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills will face each other in one of the most exciting clashes of the NFL 2021 season, Week 5, on Sunday evening. The hosts haven’t been convincing so far in the campaign, and they head to this game with a 2-2 record. The away side lost only once in the first four rounds, and they are on a hot streak of winning three times in a row.
Kansas City booked a victory on the road against the Eagles last weekend, and they want to keep up where they left off. They are currently at the bottom of the AFC West, but also only one win away from the Broncos, the Chargers, and the Raiders. On the other hand, Buffalo tops the AFC East with a 3-1 record. The visitors entered a winning streak, and they don’t want it to stop after this match.
Kansas City Chiefs – Can they improve the defense?
The Chiefs opened the campaign with a 33-29 victory over the Browns, but after that, they lost twice in a row. Kansas City suffered a narrow 36-35 defeat in Baltimore, while the Chargers beat them on the road 30-24. However, the Chiefs managed to bounce back with a win over the Eagles and improve to a 2-2 record. Nevertheless, the hosts need to improve a lot, especially in the defense, to challenge for the third consecutive Super Bowl participation.
The Chiefs are one of the best offensive sides in the NFL, as they are averaging 438.8 total offensive yards, with almost 300 yards in the air per game. Patrick Mahomes threw for 1,218 yards so far, with 14 TDs and four interceptions on 102-141. Travis Kelce leads the receiving corps with 312 yards and three scores, while Clyde Edwards-Helaire is Kansas City’s leading rusher with 291 yards. On the other hand, the Chiefs have allowed 453 total yards per match to their opponents, and they need to tighten their defense urgently.
Expected Line-Up (Offense): Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Tyreek Hill, Mecole Hardman, Demarcus Robinson, Travis Kelce, Michael Burton, Orlando Brown Jr., Joe Thuney, Creed Humphrey, Trey Smith, Lucas Niang
Expected Line-Up (Defense): Alex Okafor, Jarran Reed, Derrick Nnadi, Frank Clark, Nick Bolton, Anthony Hitchens, Mike Hughes, Tyrann Mathieu, Daniel Sorensen, L’Jarius Sneed, Ben Niemann
Quarter Back: Patrick Mahomes
Kicker: Harrison Butker

Buffalo Bills – Can they keep their defense disciplined?
The Bills opened the season with a disappointing 23-16 defeat against the Steelers at the home field. However, Buffalo improved its form in the upcoming weeks, and they currently enjoy a three-match winning streak. They celebrated against the Dolphins on the road, not allowing a single point to their opponents in a 35-0 victory. Buffalo was better than Washington Football Team at home before booking another convincing 40-0 win over the Texans last weekend.
Buffalo Bills have averaged a total of 411 offensive yards per match, with almost 260 yards per match in the air. Josh Allen threw for 1,055 yards with nine touchdowns and a pair of interceptions on 99-156. He also rushed for 129 yards and a score on 24 attempts. Stephon Diggs leads the receiving corps for the Bills with 305 yards and a TD, while Devin Singletary is the leading rusher with 259 yards and a score. The Bills have been excellent in defense, allowing only 11 points per match on average. Their opponents went for a total of 235.3 yards per match, of which 148 were through the air.
Expected Line-Up (Offense): Devin Singletary, Stefon Diggs, Emmanuel Sanders, Cole Beasley, Dawson Knox, Reggie Gilliam, Dion Dawkins, Ike Boettger, Mitch Morse, Daryl Williams, Daryl Williams
Expected Line-Up (Defense): AJ Epenesa, Ed Oliver, Star Lotulelei, Jerry Hughes, Andre Smith, Tremaine Edmunds, A.J. Klein, Taron Johnson, Damar Hamlin, Micah Hyde, Levi Wallace
Quarter Back: Josh Allen
Kicker: Tyler Bass
Expert Pick #1 – Under 56.5 @-110
My major pick for this match is the Under since the bookies set the margin very high. Although both teams have been excellent in the offense, the Bills will try to slow down the tempo and limit the Chiefs in their offensive attempts.
Expert Pick #2 – Buffalo Bills +2.5 @-105
The Chiefs haven’t been so convincing this season, and the Bills could exploit that. Buffalo managed to cover the spread three times so far, while Kansas City managed to do it only once in the campaign. Therefore, I’ll take a risk and pick the Bills as my second bet.
Expert Pick #3 – Kansas City Chiefs Under 27.5 @+110
Although the Chiefs have been very efficient so far, they face one of the best defenses in the league. The Bills managed to hold their opponents to zero points twice this season, and they will try to limit the rival’s offensive actions this time as well. Therefore, I don’t think the Chiefs will score more than 27 points.
