New England Patriots will meet New Orleans Saints in the NFL 2021 season Week 3 on Sunday afternoon. After their defeat in the season opener in their backyard, the home side got back on the winning track. The visitors had an excellent start to the campaign, but they suffered a defeat last week.
New England was perfect in the preseason, and everybody expected them to keep up winning when they met the Dolphins in the opening round. However, they suffered a tight 17-16 loss and went to face the Jets in Week 2. On the other hand, New Orleans went from a defeat to a victory in the preseason and opened the regular campaign with an excellent 38-3 win over the Packers. However, both teams have a 1-1 score after two rounds played, and they look forward to securing a good result from this one.
New England Patriots – Can they keep up the form?
The hosts managed to improve their game last weekend and bounce back after losing to the Dolphins in Week 1. New England was in control of the game against the Jets and already had a 10-0 lead after the first quarter. After three periods, the Pats had a 22-3 lead, and only a miracle could save the Jets from losing that one. Although they didn’t gain many total yards in the offense – just 260 – the Patriots intercepted the opponent’s QB Zach Wilson four times.
On the other hand, New England’s quarterback Mac Jones threw for 467 yards with one touchdown and 73.9% pass completion. Nelson Agholor and James White combined for 187 receiving yards and one TD, while Damien Harris was the leading rusher with 162 yards and a TD. The Pats’ defense was solid despite allowing a total of 336 yards. Ja’Whaun Bentley logged 13 tackles for New England, J.C. Jackson added two interceptions, while Josh Uche had three sacks.
Expected Line-Up (Offense): James White, Nelson Agholor, Jakobi Meyers, Kendrick Bourne, Hunter Henry, Jakob Johnson, Isaiah Wynn, Mike Onwenu, David Andrews, Shaq Mason, Justin Herron
Expected Line-Up (Defense): Deatrich Wise Jr., Lawrence Guy, Davon Godchaux, Henry Anderson, Ronnie Perkins, Dont’a Hightower, Josh Uche, J.C. Jackson, Kyle Dugger, Devin McCourty, Jalen Mills
Quarter Back: Mac Jones

New Orleans Saints – Can they bounce back with a win?
The Saints head to this game after losing to the Panthers last weekend. They couldn’t repeat the performance which led them to a 38-3 victory against the Packers in the opening round, and New Orleans scored just seven points last week. The visitors gained only 128 yards and made two turnovers, and it is not surprising why they lost the game. New Orleans struggled in offense, and they need to do much better if they want to secure a positive result against the Pats.
Jameis Winston passed for 259 yards, five TDs, and two interceptions with a 59.5 completion percentage. Alvin Kamara had seven receptions, while Juwan Johnson and Deonte Harris combined for 125 receiving yards and three TDs. Demario Davis leads the Saints’ defensive corps with 16 tackles, while the team is allowing 306 yards and 14.5 points per game on average.
Expected Line-Up (Offense): Alvin Kamara, Marquez Callaway, Deonte Harris, Lil’Jordan Humphrey, Adam Trautman, Terron Armstead, Andrus Peat, Cesar Ruiz, Calvin Throckmorton, Ryan Ramczyk
Expected Line-Up (Defense): Cameron Jordan, Christian Ringo, Shy Tuttle, Carl Granderson, Zach Baun, Demario Davis, Andrew Dowell, Bradley Roby, Malkolm Jenkins, Marcus Williams, Paulson Adebo
Quarter Back: Jameis Winston
Kicker: Aldrick Rosas
Expert Pick #1 – New England Patriots -2.5 @-115
Although the Pats still don’t shine in offense, they are very disciplined in the back. The hosts should book the first victory in front of the home fans, and I believe they will cover the number as well. Therefore, my first pick for this match is the Pats to beat the spread.
Expert Pick #2 – Under 42 @-110
The home side went Under six times in their last seven home games and nine times on the previous ten occasions. On the other hand, they don’t score too many points, and I think there is a very good chance for this game to stay Under as well. I’ll take it as my second bet.
Expert Pick #3 – Patriots to win ML @-155
If you search for a bit safer odds, then picking the Pats at the moneyline market could be a reasonable choice. The odds are quite good, and I’ll take them as my third tip. New England should be confident at the home field if they want to challenge for the playoffs spot.
