New York Jets will take on New England Patriots in the NFL 2021 season Week 2 on Sunday afternoon. The home side wasn’t successful in the opening round, as they lost to Carolina Panthers 19-14 on the road. The visitors didn’t enjoy a good start to the new campaign as well, as they suffered a tight 17-16 defeat at home against Miami Dolphins.
New York Jets had a pretty solid preseason, as they booked two victories on three occasions. They were better than the Giants and the Packers in the first two weeks, while they got away with a tie against the Eagles in the last moments of the match. On the other hand, the Patriots were perfect in the preseason, celebrating all three times. New England beat Washington Football Team, the Eagles, and the Giants but lost in the opening round of the regular season.
New York Jets – Are they capable of producing a surprise?
The Jets have been struggling for the past few years, and they haven’t enjoyed much success. Robert Saleh will have a challenging task to stabilize New York’s defense, which is crowded with talent. However, they would need some time to get experience, and we shouldn’t expect wonders this season. The Jets had a second pick on the latest draft, and they chose Zach Wilson. The biggest signing in offense is Corey Davis’ arrival from the Titans, while C.J. Mosley is back after a year and should strengthen defense.
Wilson passed for 258 yards on 20-37 against the Panthers, had two TDs but also an interception. With nine carries for 24 yards, Tevin Coleman was the Jets’ leader in that department. Corey Davis recorded five catches for 97 yards, while Del’Shawn Phillips had a total of 12 tackles and contributed the most in defense.
Expected Line-Up (Offense): Tevin Coleman, Corey Davis, Braxton Berrios, Denzel Mims, Tyler Kroft, George Fant, Alijah Vera-Tucker, Connor McGovern, Greg Van Roten, Morgan Moses
Expected Line-Up (Defense): John Franklin-Myers, Sheldon Rankins, Quinnen Williams, Bryce Huff, Hamsah Nasirildeen, C.J. Mosley, B.J. Goodson, Brandin Echols, Sheldrick Redwine, Marcus Maye, Bryce Hall
Quarter Back: Zach Wilson
Kicker: Matt Ammendola

New England Patriots – Can they bounce back with a win?
The Pats suffered a setback in the opening round, losing to Miami Dolphins at home. They will try to bounce back, as they will challenge the top spot in the AFC East. Despite the loss, New England’s defense met the expectations, but two turnovers cost them a defeat. After some surprising changes at quarterback, Mac Jones had a solid display with 281 passing yards on 29-39 and one TD in addition. Damien Harris produced 100 rushing yards on 23 carries, which is the team-high record in the match. Nelson Agholor had five grabs and a touchdown for 72 receiving yards, while Jakobi Meyers and Jonnu Smith logged six receptions each for over 40 receiving yards.
As already stated, the Pats’ defense did well and allowed only 259 yards. Devin McCourty and Kyle Dugger had seven total tackles each, while the latter had six solo tackles. Kyle Van Noy and Josh Uche logged a tackle each while Jonathan Jones had an interception.
Expected Line-Up (Offense): Damien Harris, Nelson Agholor, Jakobi Meyers, Kendrick Bourne, Hunter Henry, Jakob Johnson, Isaiah Wynn, Mike Onwenu, David Andrews, Shaq Mason, Justin Herron
Expected Line-Up (Defense): Deatrich Wise Jr., Lawrence Guy, Davon Godchaux, Henry Anderson, Matt Judon, Dont’a Hightower, Josh Uche, J.C. Jackson, Kyle Dugger, Devin McCourty, Jalen Mills
Quarter Back: Mac Jones
Kicker: Gunner Olszewski
Expert Pick #1 – New England Patriots -5.5 @-115
I fully expect the Patriots to deliver a victory here and get back to the winning track. Wilson didn’t impress for the Jets, while Jones had a pretty solid display. He should be capable of driving the Pats to the victory here, and I believe the visitors can also cover the spread. Therefore, it is my first pick.
Expert Pick #2 – Under 43.5 @-120
If you want to dip into the totals market, then the Under is the bet for this match. It has cashed seven times of the Pats’ last nine games, while the Jets were involved in the Under four out of the last five times. I don’t think the total number of points will exceed a 43.5 margin, and it’s my first alternative pick.
Expert Pick #3 – Patriots & Over 30.5 @-143
New England’s defense is probably among the top three in NFL, and the Jets could struggle in the front. I’m going to combine the moneylines and totals markets and go with the Pats & Over 30,5 as the third bet. Hopefully, this pick could bring us some good money as well!
