San Jose Sharks will take on Carolina Hurricanes in the NHL 2021-22 action on Monday evening. The hosts haven’t enjoyed their form recently, and they will search for improvement. The away side has been on a hot run lately, and they want to keep it going.
San Jose has been struggling in the past few weeks, as they celebrated only once on the previous five occasions. The home side wants to bounce back and stay in the race for the playoffs spot. On the other hand, Carolina enjoys a winning streak, and this is going to be their fourth straight match on the road. The visitors want to keep up where they lest off and celebrate another win.
San Jose Sharks – Will they end their bad run?
The Sharks have been on a decline lately, as they booked only one win in the previous five matches. Their defense has been very porous during this period, as they conceded at least four goals on four occasions. San Jose lost to the Capitals at home in their latest match and failed to score. That defeat saw them dropping to an 8-8-1 record and 6th place in the Pacific Division. The Sharks need to get back to the winning track urgently if they want to challenge for the post-season spot, as they are already five points behind the fourth-placed Golden Knights.
Timo Meier has produced 15 points so far in the campaign, and he has been the biggest contributor to San Jose’s offense. Tomas Hertl is the team’s top scorer with seven goals, while he has 11 points. Brent Burns has been the best assistant with 11, while Logan Couture has the best plus/minus score and has contributed with 14 points. Adin Hill and James Reimer have split their time on goal, and Reimer has been more successful with a .938 save percentage and allowing only1.98 goals per contest.
Expected Line-Up: Adin Hill, Brent Burns, Mario Ferraro, Timo Meier, Jonathan Dahlen, Logan Couture

Carolina Hurricanes – Can they celebrate on the road once again?
The Hurricanes found their momentum again, and they have celebrated four times in a row. This streak keeps them on the top of the Metropolitan Division with a 14-2-0 record and one point ahead of the Capitals. Nevertheless, Carolina has three games in hand compared to their rivals. Three straight wins came when playing away from home, and the Hurricanes were better than the Los Angeles Kings in the latest one. Despite conceding four goals, Frederik Andersen had a solid save percentage that reached 90.7% and saved 39 rival’s shots.
Andersen has been the first-choice goalie for Carolina so far, and he has maintained a pretty high .937 save percentage, conceding only 1.88 goals per match on average. On the other hand, Andrei Svechnikov leads Carolina’s offensive department with 19 points and a team-high 12 assists. Sebastian Aho is the Hurricanes’ top scorer with eight goals, while he has produced 18 points. Tony DeAngelo, Vincent Trocheck, Teuvo Teravainen, and Martin Necas have contributed with 10+ points each.
Expected Line-Up: Frederik Andersen, Ethan Bear, Jaccob Slavin, Andrei Svechnikov, Sebastian Aho, Seth Jarvis
Expert Pick #1 – Hurricanes to win (Inc. OT and Pen.) @-150
Carolina is a strong favorite in this one, as they have been in a much better form than their rivals. The Sharks have been struggling in the final third lately, while the Hurricanes go for the fourth straight road victory. I believe the away side will meet the expectations, and they are going to be my first pick.
Expert Pick #2 – Under 5.5 @+100
The Hurricanes have been pretty solid in defense, while San Jose hasn’t been too productive this season. The Under cashed in four of the previous six Carolina matches and in six of the Sharks’ last seven. I see the value in the plus money here, and it’s going to be my second bet.
Expert Pick #3 – Carolina Hurricanes -1.5 @+165
San Jose produced just a goal in the previous two games, and they face a very disciplined defense that concedes only twice per contest. The Hurricanes might beat the puck line here and bring us decent money. The odds are pretty generous, and I’ll back them as my third pick.
