Winnipeg Jets will meet Pittsburgh Penguins in Monday’s action of the NHL 2021-22 season. The home side gets back to its ice after two defeats on the road, and they want to bounce back. The visitors continue their series of matches away from home and hope for another victory.
Winnipeg has been excellent on the home ice this season, and they want to get back to the winning track. The hosts aim for the post-season place, and they have been progressing well so far in the season. Pittsburgh has been struggling with injuries during the campaign, which impacted their record. However, the away side celebrated twice in a row, and they want to continue the streak.
Winnipeg Jets – Will they dominate on the home ice again?
The Jets have been doing well this season, and they are on a good track to secure the playoffs spot. Winnipeg is 2nd in the Central Division with a 9-4-4 record, being just one point behind top-placed Minnesota. However, the hosts go to this match after two straight defeats away from home. Nevertheless, the Jets have been excellent in front of their fans this season, losing just twice on nine occasions. They lost to the Canucks 3-2 on Friday, with only Pierre-Luc Dubois and Nikolaj Ehlers managing to find the back of the net.
Kyle Connor has been the most productive player for Winnipeg with 22 points, including a team-high 12 goals. Andrew Copp is the leader in assists with 11 and 16 points, while Pierre-Luc Dubois contributed with 16 points as well. Nikolaj Ehlers, Nate Schmidt, and Neal Pionk logged 10+ points each and also did well in the final third. On the other hand, Connor Hellebuyck has spent more time between the pipes, but Eric Comrie has a better save percentage – .920 – and has allowed fewer goals per game – 2.20.

Pittsburgh Penguins – Can they extend their excellent road streak?
The Penguins have had many problems with injuries, but they are still in the race for the post-season spot. Pittsburgh sits in 6th place in the Metropolitan Division with a 7-6-4 record, being one point behind the playoffs zone. The visitors have been performing well lately, and they head to this game after two straight wins on the road. They managed to beat the Canadiens and the Maple Leafs without conceding, which is quite an improvement, knowing their defense was very porous. Tristan Jarry led the Penguins to the victory by stopping all of the opponent’s 26 shots, while Jake Guentzel and Sidney Crosby scored a goal each.
Jake Guentzel has contributed the most in Pittsburgh’s offense with 14 points, including a team-high seven goals. Marcus Pettersson has the best plus/minus score, but no other player managed to contribute with ten or more points. Tristan Jarry has been the first-choice goalie for the Penguins so far, with a solid .927 save percentage on 14 appearances. Pittsburgh went 7-4-3 with him on the goal, and he has allowed only 2.17 goals per match on average.
Expected Line-Up: Tristan Jarry, Kris Letang, Brian Dumoulin, Sidney Crosby, Jake Guentzel, Bryan Rust
Expert Pick #1 – Jets to win (Inc. OT and Pen.) @-120
Winnipeg has been playing very good hockey on the home ice, and they picked up the majority of points there. Although the Penguins improved their game on the road, I’m leaning towards the hosts to win this match. I’m going to back the Jets as my first pick.
Expert Pick #2 – Over 5.5 @-115
Although Pittsburgh didn’t concede in the previous two games, I see this game going over a 5.5 margin. Winnipeg produces 3.17 goals per match, while the Penguins score three goals on average. On the other hand, neither side has been too tight in defense this season, and I expect at least six goals in this match.
Expert Pick #3 – Jets & Over 5.5 @+230
Combining the above two picks, we can generate pretty good odds and potentially boost our returns. The Jets to win in an efficient match is something I’m going to back as my third tip, hoping to lock excellent profits.
